WHAT: Dr. Wilson announced last month that he would decide within 30 days regarding a third gas giveaway. In Illinois, drivers are paying the second highest taxes on their gasoline in the nation. Illinois charges 77.96 cents per gallon with both federal and state fees combined. The state tax accounts for 39 cents per gallon and the city adds 8 cents per gallon, and Cook County adds 6 cents per gallon along with sales taxes.
